In College Football 25, progressing as a coach revolves around earning Coach Points. These points serve as the key currency for upgrading your coach’s abilities and unlocking new archetypes. Whether you want to be an elite recruiter, a game-winning tactician, or a program-building mastermind, Coach Points will be critical to shaping your coaching journey and success.
Your journey to earning Coach Points starts with playing games and completing in-game objectives. Each game provides opportunities to complete Coach Goals that will award XP. These goals can range from achieving specific game results, like winning a rivalry game, to long-term milestones like signing a five-star recruit or winning a conference championship.
As you accumulate XP, you’ll level up your coach, with the max level being Level 50. Every time you level up, you’ll be rewarded with Coach Points that can then be used to unlock abilities and archetypes, furthering your progression in the game.
In College Football 25, archetypes define the type of coach you will become. You start with a base archetype of your choice—such as Recruiter, Motivator, or Tactician. From there, you can use your Coach Points to unlock additional archetypes or upgrade abilities within your chosen archetype.
Each archetype has specific prerequisites that must be met before you can unlock its full potential. For example, to unlock the Elite Recruiter archetype, you must first spend 50 Coach Points in the Recruiter archetype and sign two top-five recruiting classes. Once you meet these objectives, you’ll be able to purchase the Elite Recruiter archetype, gaining access to new abilities and perks.
When you purchase an archetype with Coach Points, it unlocks a set of abilities and often comes with a special perk. For example, the Tactician archetype includes the Winner perk, which awards additional XP every time you win a game, giving you a faster path to leveling up and earning even more Coach Points.
Your active archetype is determined by the one you’ve invested the most points in. However, if you own the Program Builder or CEO archetypes, these will always be considered your active archetypes regardless of your other progress. This ensures that as you climb to the pinnacle of coaching, you’re rewarded with the most powerful benefits available.
Additionally, while only one archetype is active, all unlocked abilities across archetypes remain “on” and contribute to your coaching effectiveness, so nothing goes to waste once you’ve invested in it.
Your progress through archetypes and abilities can be viewed in the Coach Abilities screen, located within the Coach Tab of the Dynasty Hub. This screen will display all of the available archetypes, their unlock requirements, and any perks associated with each one. You’ll also be able to track your progress in each archetype through a spider graph, which visually represents your coach’s DNA, showing how balanced or specialized you are as a coach.
Once you’ve unlocked an archetype, you can use Coach Points to purchase abilities within that archetype. College Football 25 features over 50 coach abilities, each of which can be upgraded through four tiers, with each tier requiring more Coach Points to unlock.
Most archetypes, with the exception of Scheme Guru, Program Builder, and CEO, have abilities that are broken down by position group. This allows for a high degree of specialization. For instance, you could choose to focus on being a Quarterback Whisperer, specializing in developing elite quarterbacks, or be a defensive mastermind with abilities that focus on your Linebacker Corps or Secondary.
Each position group can be developed individually, giving you the freedom to build a team that plays to your strengths as a coach.
With Coach Points, you’ll need to decide whether to specialize in one area or become a more balanced coach with abilities across several archetypes. For example, while being a great recruiter might help you bring in elite talent, you may want to invest in Motivation abilities to develop those players once they’re on campus, or Tactical abilities to win games with superior play-calling.
Balancing your Coach Points investment can create a dynamic coaching strategy that mirrors real-world success in college football.
In College Football 25, Coach Points are the currency of your coaching progression. Whether you focus on recruiting, developing players, or mastering on-field tactics, how you spend your Coach Points will shape the future of your program. The strategic use of Coach Points will allow you to not only define your coaching identity but also lead your team to success season after season.
