Awakening Fragment is a map fragment in Path of Exile that unlocks access to the Uber Sirus encounter, one of the game’s most challenging bosses. This encounter presents an extremely difficult version of the Sirus fight, set at Area Level 85 with enhanced mechanics and increased difficulty.

  • Usage: Use five Awakening Fragments in a personal Map Device to open portals to The Eye of the Storm. This item can only be used once.

Mechanics

When five Awakening Fragments are placed into a Map Device, they open portals to the Uber Sirus encounter. This is an even more challenging version of the standard Sirus fight, designed for players who seek the ultimate test of their skills and character builds.

Key Changes in the Uber Sirus Encounter:

Area Mod: Monsters take 70% less damage, making the fight longer and requiring sustained, high DPS.

Enhanced Sirus Abilities:

  • Chasing Storms: In Sirus’ first three phases, a small storm is created that chases the player around the arena, adding a new layer of difficulty in positioning and movement.
  • Full-Width Beams: Sirus’ beam attacks in all phases are the full-width type usually reserved for the final phase, significantly increasing the danger. The Die Beam now tracks the player in all phases.
  • Meteor Maze: The delay before the Meteor Maze attack is much shorter, requiring faster reactions and precise movement.

Final Phase Enhancements:

  • Persistent Desolation: The Desolation of the Awakener continually generates throughout the final phase, persists for the entire duration, and is not removed by the Meteor Maze, making the arena increasingly dangerous.
  • Rotating Beam: The Rotating Beam attack now has 6 beams instead of 4, increasing the difficulty of dodging and avoiding damage.
  • Multi Clone Beam: The Multi Clone Beam attack now tracks the player, adding a new layer of complexity to the final phase.

Item Acquisition

Awakening Fragments can be obtained from specific sources:

  • Drop Locations: This fragment has a chance to drop from Tier 17 map bosses, with a higher likelihood of dropping from the bosses of Fortress Map and Sanctuary Map.

Monsters: Awakening Fragments can also be acquired from specific monsters in Nightmare variants of boss encounters, such as:

  • Nightmare of Catarina
  • Nightmare of Lycia
  • Nightmare of the Depraved Trinity
  • Nightmare of the Unbreakable
  • Nightmare of Uhtred
