Beyond AI Guides

Beyond demons are unique monsters that spawn during Beyond encounters in Path of Exile. Unlike most extra content, Beyond encounters do not have a base chance to spawn in maps naturally. Players can trigger these encounters using Atlas passive skills that increase the likelihood of Beyond demons appearing or by using a Beyond Scarab or the Beyond map device crafting options.

Summoning the Beyond

Unlike other encounters, Beyond demons don’t appear randomly in maps. To entice them, you can:

  • Invest in Atlas Passives: These special Atlas skills increase the chance of Beyond demons being drawn to your maps.
  • Utilize Beyond Scarabs: These consumable items guarantee a Beyond encounter in your map.
  • Craft the Beyond Map Device Option: This crafting option on the map device forces a Beyond encounter.
  • Explore Delve: Beyond demons can also be found lurking within the Azurite Mine.

Mechanics

Beyond demons cannot spawn naturally. They can be summoned in maps through Atlas passives that increase the chance for Beyond Demons to be attracted, using a Beyond Scarab, or employing the Beyond map device craft. Additionally, the legacy map mod Otherworldly can add Beyond demons to a map instance. Beyond demons might also appear from other sources like Delve (Azurite Mine).

When a monster dies in a Beyond-enabled instance, there is a 15% chance for a small red orb to appear. If four of these orbs are close together, portals will open, summoning Beyond demons. After enough Beyond demons spawn, each new pack increases the chance for the next pack to include a boss. Only one Beyond boss can spawn per instance. Once a boss has spawned, no more Beyond portals will open in that instance. The Endless Tide Atlas keystone prevents Beyond bosses from spawning.

Certain mechanics that spawn large numbers of monsters, like Breach and Legion, appear to have a reduced chance to spawn Beyond portals upon death.

Demons are divided into three factions, with only one faction spawning per instance: the Pale Scourge, the Flesh Scourge, and the Demonic Scourge.

Beyond Bosses

These bosses, known as the three Demon Lords, are referenced by Sister Divinia. Both Sister Divinia and the Last to Die note that Beidat and other Pale monsters are blind, communicate with humans, and feed on human fear. K’tash represents a hivemind for the Demonic faction, while Ghorr and the Flesh faction are driven purely by the desire to consume.

Beyond bosses have a significantly increased chance to drop tainted currency items.

K’tash, the Hate Shepherd Demonic
