PoE Item Rarity and Quantity – Path of Exile

Monster Increased Item Rarity and Quantity

  • The way that the Quantity and Rarity of items dropped from extra content has been changed. Generally we have added item Quantity or Rarity bonuses to a number of mechanics, such as Essences, or Delirium. On top of that we have added drops back to some leagues where it wasn’t present before, like Ultimatum. In general the philosophy here is that if you are killing monsters you get loot, and if they are more difficult, you should get more and better loot.
  • A major change we have made alongside the above is that we have changed a lot of the quantity and rarity bonuses on monsters to prevent things multiplying out of control at the very top end. There were cases that were utilised by fewer than 100 players total in a league and they were able to yield tens of thousands, in some cases hundreds of thousands of unique items dropping in every map (while not even playing in a party) and as such had monopoly on the unique item market (if you were wondering why many t0 uniques reduced so drastically in value during Necropolis League, it was due to this), this wasn’t them exploiting a game mechanic, this was just the maximum capacity of rewards. By us changing this, it severely limits the run-away cases, without affecting the experience of average users, or even above-average users at all. It is very much still intended that you can push the rewards & difficulty of content to it feeling "excessive" without having to sacrifice the integrity of the leagues economy at the same time.

Player Increased Item Quantity

  • Item Quantity bonuses on all Character items have been removed, though this will not affect existing items in Standard Leagues.
  • Magic find is intended to be another axis on your gear you can scale once you have achieved the power you want. With Item Quantity being only available on Unique Items, this meant that if you wanted to get the most out of it you had to be playing a very specific build. We still want people to be able to invest into Magic Find, but now only through Item Rarity. This can be obtained on a number of Rare Item slots, and by a much larger number of builds.
  • The Bisco’s Collar Unique Amulet has been temporarily disabled. Divination Cards that awarded this Unique have also been disabled, and existing items cannot currently be turned in.
  • The Ascetic Unique Amulet can no longer be obtained.
  • The Sadima’s Touch Unique Gloves no longer provide 5-10% increased Quantity of Items found. Instead, they now have 5-15% increased Rarity of Items found.
  • The Perandus Blazon Unique Belt no longer provides 6-8% increased Quantity of Items found. Instead, it now has 10-12% increased Rarity of Items found.
  • The Bisco’s Leash Unique Belt no longer has 5% increased Quantity of Items found. Instead, it now has +10-15 to all Attributes.
  • The Divination Distillate Unique Flask no longer has 8-12% increased Quantity of Items found during Effect. Instead, it now has 30-50% increased Rarity of Items found during Effect. It also now provides +10% to Elemental Resistances during Effect (previously +50%), existing items can be updated to this new value with a Divine Orb and a side of regret.
  • The Thief’s Torment Unique Ring no longer has 10-16% increased Quantity of Items found. Instead, it now has 20-30% increased Rarity of Items found.
  • The Sentari’s Answer Unique Shield no longer has 4-8% increased Quantity of Items found.
  • The Goldwyrm Unique Boots no longer have 14-20% increased Quantity of Items found. Instead, they now have 20-40% increased Rarity of Items found.
  • The Greed’s Embrace Unique Body Armour no longer has 10-15% increased Quantity of Items found. Instead, it now has 100% increased Rarity of Items found (previously 30-50%), and -20 to -10% to Lightning Resistance (previously -20%).
  • The Pariah Unique Ring no longer has 15% increased Item Quantity per White Socket. Instead, it now has 60% increased Rarity of Items found per White Socket.
  • The Ventor’s Gamble Unique Ring no longer has -10 to 10% increased Quantity of Items found. Instead, it now has -15 to 15% increased Mana Reservation Efficiency of Skills.
  • The Windripper Unique Bow no longer has 15% increased Quantity of Items Dropped by Slain Frozen Enemies. Instead, it now has 30% increased Rarity of Items dropped by Frozen Enemies.
  • The Spinefuse Talisman Implicit modifier is now +12-18% to Damage over Time Multiplier, instead of 6-10% increased Quantity of Items found. This change also affects the Eyes of the Greatwolf Talisman.
  • Influenced and Corrupted Modifiers that provide Increased Item Quantity can no longer roll.
  • Increased Rarity of Items found can no longer roll on jewels, or appear as an Implicit Modifier on Synthesised Jewels.
  • The Discerning Taste Timeless Jewel Notable now grants 12% increased Mana Reservation Efficiency of Skills instead of 40% increased Rarity of Items found.

AI Guides

This is a message for players of Path of Exile (PoE) who want to find more cool items! There’s a big update to how items drop in the game.

More Rewards for Killing Tough Monsters: In general, you’ll now get more and better loot from the hardest monsters in the game. This means there’s a bigger reward for taking on a challenge!

Changes to Player Loot Bonuses: There are also some changes to how your character affects how many items you find. Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Magic Find on Gear: Before, you could increase how many items you found by using special gear. Now, this gear will instead increase the chance you find rare and special items. This means you can still focus on getting more loot, but in a different way.
  • Unique Items Changed: Some unique items that used to increase how many items you found no longer do that. They now have different effects, or are temporarily disabled. You can still use these items if you already have them, but new ones won’t be available for a while.

Overall, the goal of these changes is to make loot more exciting and rewarding, especially for players who take on the toughest challenges in the game. We hope you enjoy exploring and finding awesome loot in Path of Exile!
