AI Guides

In Path of Exile's expansive mapping system, the Nameless Seer introduces a unique and strategic mechanic known as "Scry a Map." This feature, available when you encounter the Nameless Seer in Tier 16 Maps, allows players to swap the Divination Cards typically dropped in the current map with those from another map on your Atlas. Here’s a detailed look at how this mechanic works and how you can leverage it to your advantage.

What is Scrying a Map?

Scrying a Map is a process that enables you to change the Divination Cards that drop in a specific map to those of another map on your Atlas. This can be particularly useful for farming specific Divination Cards or optimizing your map rewards.

How to Scry a Map

  1. Encounter the Nameless Seer: You may come across the Nameless Seer in Tier 16 Maps. He will offer you the option to Scry a Map.
  2. Select Your Swap: Choose the map whose Divination Cards you want to replace with those of another map on your Atlas.
  3. Swap Execution: The Divination Cards typically dropped in your current map will be swapped with those from your selected map.

Important Mechanics

  • Exclusive Swaps: A specific map cannot be part of multiple swaps simultaneously. This means you need to plan your swaps carefully to maximize efficiency.
  • Undoing a Swap: If you want to revert your choice, you can use an Orb of Scouring on either map involved in the swap on your Atlas. This flexibility allows you to experiment with different configurations without permanent consequences.

Strategic Use of Scrying

Scrying a Map can significantly enhance your mapping strategy. Here are some tips to make the most of this mechanic:

  • Target Farming: Identify which Divination Cards you need and find the maps that drop them. Use Scrying to bring these drops to maps you are comfortable running or maps with favorable modifiers.
  • Optimize Rewards: Some maps are more challenging but offer better rewards. Scry these maps to farm valuable Divination Cards in easier maps, balancing risk and reward.
  • Adaptability: Experiment with different map combinations to find the most efficient farming routes. Use Orbs of Scouring to undo swaps that don’t work out as planned.

Example Scenario

Imagine you need "The Apothecary" card, which can be hard to farm in its native map. By scrying a map you are more efficient at running, you can increase your chances of obtaining this valuable card without significantly altering your mapping routine.

Conclusion

The Scry a Map mechanic introduced by the Nameless Seer adds a layer of depth and strategy to Path of Exile's mapping system. By allowing players to swap Divination Card drops between maps, it opens up new avenues for target farming and optimizing rewards. With careful planning and strategic use, you can enhance your mapping experience and maximize your loot.
