The State of Stillness II 一室清淨

溫潤的木材讓人不自覺在飯桌上多花時間，自然地專注當下在眼前的文字、圖像、飲食。木桌如同餐具是一種會老舊褪色器具，要時常擦拭保持淡泊清淨，刮痕褪色的不完整經過時間的集積特別美，是長期身處過於繁忙的日常中，所追求的一室清淨。

北歐傢俬的材料離不開冷調簡潔的「鋼鐵」及溫潤實樸的「原木」。前篇提到芬蘭的Artek、丹麥的Carl Hansen & Son，此篇是現代簡約的代表同樣來自丹麥的Muuto及位於丹麥及瑞典中間忠於原始木頭的Skagerak 。

A sense of quiet contentment makes a strong spell to drag us staying in the dining area or at least the living area. A weathered table with signs of antiquity is a perfect imperfection that reflects on the silence and evanesce of life. A month later, a few scratches. A few years later, it gets mottled and darkened. Wooden table ages like daily utensils, which also have to be sanitised and cleaned once in a while to retain the sense of stillness.

In the world of Scandinavian design, sleek metal and humble wood are always the top choices. A few to highlight, Artek from Finland and Carl Hansen & Son from Denmark mentioned in the previous blog. Here comes the modern simplicity Muuto from Denmark and Skagerak from the middle of Denmark and Sweden, which later is literally one of the best wooden cabinet makers in the world that we have ever met.
經過設計師、建築師、木工大師本人所體驗意識的一切，材料及形態方能得以靈活運用，成果多半與一般大眾所認知的「簡約」來得更為千變萬化。Cecilie Manz是丹麥近代著名設計大師之一，向來以恰到好處的形態及紋理展現慵懶舒適的狀態：陳列展覽如17年位於日本金沢市的Everyday Life - Signs of Awareness 及18年位於法國巴黎的Maison & Objet - Objects、產品設計如B&O的音響系列及Muuto的Workshop系列等。

驟眼望落如入榫傢俬般的工整，洗練的外型在結構內壁藏著許多細節；圓邊檯角及木頭切面的紋理方向接合得剛好，畫板似的桌面兩邊內嵌五口螺絲，分別鎖上凵型檯腳；不論茶几邊桌、餐桌還是椅子，弧度外型均是明亮潔淨，是恰到好處的細膩療癒。

Discovering through touch and match, materials and forms always perform to their full potential in the weathered hands of designers, architects and craftsmen. Cecilie Manz, one of the modern Danish design masters, specialises in simple yet just right form with a laid-back way of living since her graduation in 1997.

A few showcases and exhibitions to mention, Everyday Life - Signs of Awareness 2017 located in Kanazawa City, Japan and MAison & Objet - Objects 2018 located in Paris, France; as well as number of product and industrial designs: Beoplay Series for Bang & Olufsen, Workshop Table and Chair Series for Muuto and etc.

Appearing as mortise and tenon joinery, Workshop Table contents sublime details within the perfectly tidy affairs. Rounded edge and wood cutting oppose wood grains in several directions at its right dimensions. Showmanship as a painting board, each of two sides embed 5 screws to lock table legs within the frame and leave the entire piece in bright, clear and understated symmetry.

套用服部土芳的「不拘於變化流行，立於誠的是姿。」，來形容他們再適合不過。

從透明的材料來源、結構設計、用心生產、剛好的包裝至清晰組裝指示，由始至終好好保護每一件得來不易的木頭；Skagerak實屬溫潤親切的一派，向來以實樸的設計突出材料的本質，這份由內到外的賞識及尊重，才是本格的「北歐風」，教人收獲一件新家品同時，學會與其好好相處。

Hven Collection/ 丹麥及瑞典中間的Øresund海峽的命名，以原木來顯現海岸微鹹空氣伴隨的啪嗒砂礫。Hven有著些許粗糙的觸感及大型木檯底該有的實淨木框架構，底部牢牢抓緊且向中心傾斜穩住所承受的重量。橡木自身防黴防菌，日常清潔使用附上的小刷子順著紋理刷淨便可；若擔心潮濕的問題，也有塗上白油/皂層的版本。

Salty breath and rustic gravel spill out from strait Øresund between Denmark and Sweden. Hven Collection strips everything back to necessity, the tilted bottom shares and supports the happy moments with extra strength. Whereas, rounded edges and overlapping poles are aligned in the Armchair and Bar Stool with care and long to remark years coming. Oak from Skagerak are sourced from European certified sustainable forest, hardwear enough to resist bacteria growth yet light and well-grained for high-quality interior.
在工整的年代，三尖八角的設計多半會覺得難以擺放整齊而貿然略過；在弧形線條主導的當代設計，Ballare或許才是真正的自然，仔細留意向內微彎的檯腳凳腳，是諦觀刻畫樹木拼命生長的流動。以不銹鋼作檯底支撐，與木條檯面相映成趣，天氣好時，分開兩邊再添上兩塊檯面，迎接朋友家人的到訪。

專門室外用木傢俬多半會被風吹雨打日曬雨淋，一年一度大清潔以水清洗刷去污漬；數年後重新掃上保護層，便彷彿獲得一件全新的木頭，時刻保持新鮮的蜜糖色澤；香港室內甚少使用暖爐，不怕木頭會突然乾裂，但仍需要偶爾重新鎖緊。若嫌重新塗油麻煩，時不時以清水/專用肥皂水擦拭；若干年年後，變成銀灰色的老道具也很好看。

Furniture with ergonomic and unordinary shapes are always skipped in the era of symmetry and tidy perfection. Whereas everyone called themselves organic, Ballare Collection retained in its understated nature. Tree branches grow squiggly so as the form of Ballare, spinning up the conversations from indoor to outdoor. Stainless steel pull-out system goes hand in hand with the slatted table top, always ready to extend for guests to come over.

Outdoor furniture are usually placed under abnormal weather conditions, which most would choose metal options for easier cleansing and maintenance. Whereas, designs from Skagerak are built with high content of natural oils in antifungal qualities. To put outdoor furniture indoors, all we need to do is tighten the joints once in a while. Untreated surface is recommended to clean once a few months to get rid of algae and moss, and or re-oiled a new layer once a few years to keep the beauty in honey tone. Hardwearing and beautiful oak are all embracing with grace in the processes of use and decay in dull shine.

一、關於木桌 - 『日式』北歐傢俬提案

曾見過日本節目『男旅』介紹北海道的頂級旅館別墅以一張長木桌貫穿廚房及用餐區域，開放式廚房外添置數盞白金色吊燈及兩張吧凳；為了除去實木桌的重量，餐桌周圍是高低不一但木色類近的長凳、矮凳及扶手餐椅，整個空間的層次鮮明透徹，方便交流互動。

二、可持續的綠是一種自然而然的選擇

室內設計師修補調整充滿寂然的傳統房子後，為了與長期橫風橫雨的濟州島共存，在室外庭院的部分全部用上Skagerak的室外傢俬，是設計師本人著重、欣賞、且想要延伸讓人感知的自然。
