The Dazing Support Gem is a Tier 3 gem that enhances Physical Attack skills in Path of Exile 2. It introduces a unique crowd control mechanic by causing attacks to build up Daze based on a portion of the Physical Damage dealt. This gem is perfect for players who want to add control and debuffing capabilities to their melee or ranged physical damage builds.
Daze is a debilitating status effect that slows down enemies’ action speed, preventing them from responding as quickly. When enemies are Dazed, their attack, cast, and movement speed are reduced, making them easier to control and easier to kill. The Daze effect is especially effective when dealing with large packs of enemies or when you need to slow down tougher bosses or enemies during an encounter.
Daze Build-up:
With Dazing, every Physical Attack you land will build up the Daze effect on your enemies. The more Physical Damage you deal with your attacks, the faster and more effective the Daze buildup becomes. The gem causes your attacks to accumulate Daze equal to 100% of Physical Damage dealt, meaning the more damage you deal, the stronger the Daze applied to the target. This buildup mechanic makes Dazing highly synergistic with high-damage Physical attacks.
Daze Effect:
When an enemy reaches a sufficient Daze buildup, they will be Dazed, slowing them down for a brief period. The duration of the Daze effect can vary depending on your build and other modifiers, but it generally lasts a few seconds. During this time, your enemies will be much slower, making it easier for you to react to incoming threats or follow up with additional attacks.
Scaling with Physical Damage:
Since Dazing builds up Daze based on Physical Damage, it works especially well in melee physical builds that focus on high-damage hits, such as slamming or striking skills. It can also complement ranged physical attacks such as bows or projectile-based skills. The higher your Physical Damage output, the stronger and faster the Daze effect becomes.
Melee Physical Damage Builds:
Dazing is perfect for melee attack builds that focus on high Physical Damage output. If you’re using attacks like Heavy Strike, Lacerate, or Cyclone, Dazing will cause your hits to build up Daze, slowing down enemies and giving you more time to deal follow-up damage. This synergy helps you control the battlefield and disrupt enemy attacks.
Physical Projectile Builds:
If you’re playing a ranged physical damage build with projectiles, such as Bow or Slingshot skills, Dazing works well to slow down enemies while you engage them from a distance. The increased Daze buildup per hit will allow you to keep enemies at a manageable pace while you deal continuous damage from afar.
Tanky Melee Builds:
For tank-focused builds, Dazing can provide extra crowd control while you absorb damage. The slower movement of Dazed enemies will allow you to regain control over the fight, positioning yourself to deal more damage or recover more health. The Daze effect also gives you more time to react to incoming threats or recover from tough situations.
Bossing Builds with Physical Damage:
Against bosses that deal significant damage or have fast reaction times, Dazing helps slow them down, giving you more breathing room to dodge, heal, or apply buffs. Using Dazing on bosses with high Physical resistance will help make them more manageable, especially in prolonged fights.
Increased Crowd Control:
The Daze effect provides powerful crowd control, particularly when used in conjunction with high Physical Damage attacks. Enemies are forced to slow down, giving you more control over the battlefield.
Synergy with High Damage:
Dazing works best when combined with high Physical Damage output. The more damage you deal with your attacks, the quicker enemies will build up Daze, and the more effective your crowd control will be.
Improved Survivability:
By slowing down enemies, Dazing significantly reduces their offensive potential, allowing you to mitigate incoming damage and react more easily to dangerous situations.
Multiple Enemy Targets:
Dazing can be effective against multiple enemies at once. The AoE nature of the Daze buildup ensures that your attacks can affect multiple targets, slowing them down and enabling you to handle larger groups of foes with greater ease.
Limited Effectiveness on Bosses:
While Dazing can significantly slow down mobs and minions, bosses with high resistances or immunity to Daze will not be as affected. In these situations, the effectiveness of the Daze buildup may be limited, requiring additional strategies for boss encounters.
Requires High Physical Damage:
Since Dazing is based on Physical Damage, it is less effective for builds that do not focus on Physical damage as a primary source. Players relying on elemental or purely spell-based builds will not benefit as much from this gem.
Pair with High-Damage Physical Attacks:
To maximize the effectiveness of Dazing, focus on high-damage Physical attacks. Skills like Heavy Strike, Cleave, Cyclone, or Infernal Blow will build up Daze much faster, ensuring that you can incapacitate enemies quickly.
Combo with AoE Attacks:
If you’re using AoE Physical damage skills, such as Ground Slam or Earthquake, Dazing can affect multiple enemies at once, allowing you to control large packs of monsters. The more targets hit, the faster the Daze buildup, ensuring greater crowd control in larger fights.
Synergize with Slower Enemies:
The Daze effect works best against fast-moving enemies or those that deal rapid melee or ranged attacks. Use Dazing to slow down these foes, giving you an edge in handling quickly attacking mobs or swarming enemies.
The Dazing Support Gem is an excellent addition to Physical Attack-based builds in Path of Exile 2, providing players with the ability to build up Daze on enemies based on Physical Damage dealt. This gem offers crowd control and damage mitigation by slowing down enemies, allowing you to take control of the battle. Whether you’re using melee or ranged physical damage, Dazing makes it easier to manage large groups of enemies and tougher foes alike. While the gem works best for high Physical Damage builds, it is a valuable tool for those seeking better control and survivability in both mapping and boss encounters.
